Pollen Allergies: Do you need help with it??

Pollen Allergies-Do you need help with it?

Allergies can be of various types and there can be millions of them, but interestingly 1 out of 7 people in the world suffer from pollen allergies. Pollens are nothing but male cells of flowering plants that looks like miniature eggs. Wind pollination is the main technique that is used and almost all kinds of winds, grass and weeds use this technique.

Itchy yes, stuffy nose, breathing troubles, sore throat and headaches are some of the symptoms of pollen allergies. The severity of the pollen allergy depends on the pollen count. How much amount of pollen is present in the air determines the pollen count. It vastly depends on the climatic condition, like on a windy day the count might be higher. Pollen count also varies throughout the day according to the time of the day.

Pollen grains have an external covering that comprises of 30-40 distinct proteins. When someone inhales the pollen grain, they might reach the eyes and these proteins are discharged as if they have landed on a feminine receptive organ.

Under normal circumstance, the immune system of the body takes care of the situation and discards the foreign protein out of the body. However for some the immune system is incapable of doing so; rather release chemical called histamine. Histamine causes the symptoms of pollen allergies.

One of the best ways to treat pollen allergies is to say away from the pollen exposure. Pollens tend to stick on to hair, clothes and skin. Get yourself a shower every time you come back from outside and change your clothes regularly. The morning time between 5 am to 10 am is the time when pollination takes place maximum. Stay indoor for this period of time.

If possible stay at home on a windy day or on a dry day. If you are required to work outside then use a mask in order to filter the air you inhale from pollens. Keep the environment in which you live dust free and use vacuum cleaners that can suck airborne particles. Enchinacea and dandelion is a couple of recommended herbs for the treatment of pollen allergies.

Have good knowledge about the plants that augments your allergy and learn about their pollination process. This way you can keep yourself away from such plants and avoid worsening your pollen allergy. Closed windows and air conditioned rooms can help your cause. The time prior to pollination and the time that follows pollination are absolutely safe and you can saunter in your garden without having to fear about ‘pollen allergies’.
